Public Domain resources can’t be used up like a regular resource like oil or coal. So if one entrepreneur (or infopreneur) taps into a public domain work on creating extra money or running a home business, nothing is preventing you from employing the same information for your own business ideas.

How does that work?

We’ll take a real-world, non public domain example. Consider the amount of pizza joints in your town? There are quite a few of them, aren’t there? And yet, nearly every month or so you hear about a brand new pizza place opening. Fundamentally, what are these people doing?

They are taking an idea, and differentiating it to grow a business.

There is a powerful business concept enshrined in that sentence. What might that be?

There are seldom new concepts, but there are always new products.

You do not need to invent something, or create something that’s new. In fact, all you need to do is follow the two basic promoting guidelines:

1) Find an idea or need that is in hot demand (we already talked about this when you learned how to research your market );

2) Find a new way to package and sell that concept/solution.

There are details, but if you’re hoping to keep one eye on the larger picture, these are the two steps any profitable company MUST have taken.

You may use the same info/public domain resource that someone else has used, and build your own product from it!

But wait…What about market competition?

That is an excellent point and an important one in this example. If too many people start marketing the same sort of products (that is, there is too much competition in one area), it is not as moneymaking as before to start a business in that niche.

However, it’s important to comprehend the nature of public domain materials.

The Public Domain isn’t a business in itself. It is the info, the data contained in public domain works that may be used inside a business.

To explain, public domain works are an especially valuable resource. Not a lot more. Since everyone can basically use the same info, you may have a situation in which the same data, packaged in more or less the same formats, is flooding the market.
